I remember watching Sherlock Holmes Part 1 on my 15 inch desktop monitor during my college days. The movie released during my times of “recession”(student life) and considering I lived in the hostel  as usual I had no cash to watch it on the big screen. But nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment of the movie and also watched it quite a few times. In 2011, Guy Ritchie brings out the second edition and yes I can firmly say this one is a winner too!And winning all the way is the famous Watson-Holmes ki jodi!
Set in beautifully crafted Europe( yeah this time its Paris also), it talks about Prof.Moriarity’s exploits to trigger a premature World War 1.Although the story is not as intriguing as the previous one but its quite fresh to keep your eyes glued to the screen and also keeps your mind fizzing with questions as what might happen next! And yeah the climax too is quite stupendous as the drama unfolds and Holmes uncovers the whole mystery.
Performance wise this movie surely tells us why Robert Downey Jr is a class apart.Be it scenes where he is convincing Watson not to go with a woman or even when he is carefully observing the clues and making a forecast which is bang-on.Jude Law as Dr.Watson is in form once again. With a stalwart like Downey Jr, he makes his presence felt very much with some fine dialogues which are delivered with absolute ease. The role of Prof.Moriarity played by Jade Harris is the only average part of the movie. Its mainly been our perception that a villain who does bad-bad things should look equally scary or worse his presence should send a chill down the spine. But with Jade Harris it does not happen that way.Other actors/actresses keep popping on-off the screen.
Thumbs Up from my side for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Its simply great to watch London of old times on the screen, people speaking rich English and ofcourse the excellently delivered British comedy by Sherlock Holmes by absurd acts and out of the box thinking.Considering the parameters of story, screenplay, performances, execution, I would go with 4 stars for the movie; mainly scoring heavily for its deft execution.Watch this movie for numerous fumbling fight-scenes, stop motion filming, and explosions, lots of explosions–some of which serve to keep the pace moving. And to add on, please say no to Bollywood remakes for Sherlock Holmes! Yet to come out of the Chatur Singh 2 Star a.k.a Desi Pink Panther trauma!
